Just for fun, I thought I'd post this today. This might be the only dog portrait I've ever done. I painted it last fall as a gift for a friend. Two cuter dogs I've never seen.
i was in Home Depot recently looking at paint chips and was intrigued by the flyers some paint companies produce with suggested color combinations. I thought it would be interesting to do some little paintings based on their colors just because they'd be different for me. Turned out to be harder than I thought to find stuff to paint that were the right colors, so this is the only one I've done so far, although there may be more.
I taught my first class yesterday at the Handicraft Club on the east side of Providence. It's a really wonderful old building, with a kitchen and dining room for those who want to eat lunch there. Great for me, because I'm teaching a morning and an afternoon class.
I liked the bottles that I painted the other day and decided to paint a larger version of it, just finished it this morning.
The big bottle with the cork was in our garage when we moved in over 20 years ago. I finally washed some of the dust off it, brought it inside, and painted it. Who says I'm a procrastinator?
This is a painting I did a while ago, and realized recently that I had been too faithful to the photo that I worked from and made it too dark. I repainted areas of it to bring out a little more color and detail, and am a lot happier with it.
Warren's Point is a lovely private beach on the south coast of Rhode Island. I was there last summer to work on a commission and got some nice photos for paintings.
I actually spent days working on a larger painting of these flowers only to wipe it off because it just wasn't going anywhere. I hate it when that happens!
