This little guy was in the bush outside my kitchen window the other day. How those small bodies can keep warm in this weather is something I don't understand...

A "New Dawn" rose, from my backyard, last summer. There aren't many things prettier than light shining through rose petals.

The color in the actual painting is much prettier than this, but no matter what I do I can't get the subtle blues and lavenders to show.

Done from my car. The sun sets twice as fast when you're painting something complex. I had to put in the tree and shadow from a photo later.

Setting up still lifes lately has been a pulling-out-my-hair experience, but I like this one. One of these days I'm going to start painting larger...

Also, if you're in the Rhode Island area and haven't seen the Artists for the Bay show at the Save the Bay Center, there's a free reception next Saturday, Jan. 31. Mimosas, bloody Mary's, and refreshments! The show comes down the following Monday.

I love painting tangerines- that bright orange color is unlike anything else, and it almost makes you feel warmer and happier while you're painting it.
