Sunfish-sold

Oil on canvas, 6" x 6"
I'm going to be half of a two-person show this summer at the Donovan Gallery, so I'm thinking summer! I loved the reflection of the sail of this little Sunfish, think I'll try painting a larger one.

My new book!

I'm so pleased to announce I've just published a small book of my paintings. It's called "City Life- Paintings by Kathleen Weber". It can be previewed here. It includes many of the small bar and restaurant paintings that I've posted on this blog, as well as other larger paintings done in the recent past. This is the first time I've done this, and it's rather exciting to see how nicely it turned out. The printing quality is excellent.

The book can be purchased from Blurb.com for $19.95 plus $6.43/shipping, or from me for $19.95 plus $5.00/shipping (total $24.95)- plus I'll autograph it for free!

If you'd like to get one, send a check for $24.95 to Kathy Weber, 34 Bayview Ave., Riverside RI 02915, USA. Be sure your address is on the check and write "book" in the memo line. If you'd prefer Paypal, go to the sidebar and use the "Buy now" button.

Two heads are better

Oil on canvas, 6"x 6"
Ahh, back to the beach. I loved the purple and yellow that the woman on the right was wearing.  I know it's a rather odd composition otherwise.

Flowers by the window

Oil on canvas, 6" x 6"
Keeping this blog going is turning into a learning experience. Twice now, recently, my posts have disappeared; I managed to get them back, but the solution that worked the first time didn't work the second, so it's turned into a guessing game as to what exactly the problem is. Now Google has taken over Feedburner, which until now did a great job sending out each new post; but this morning it sent out a post that was over a month old. I tried pinging (am I sounding more like a geek?)- now I'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Tropical Drinks

Oil on canvas on board, 6" x 8"
A trip to Quincy Market in Boston this past weekend yielded some interesting material for possible paintings. I loved the colors in this tropical fruit stand at the food court.

Little lacrosse-SOLD

Oil on canvas, 6" x 6"
Well, it's a full-fledged blizzard here in Little Rhody, and I've got spring fever. I was going through some photos I took last year and came across some of these girls at a local school practicing lacrosse. Sunshine! Green grass! I'm there.

Waiter at Anthony's-sold

Oil on canvas on board, 6" x 8"
My friend Janice and I went to the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston recently to see the Shepard Fairey show (he was the creator of the famous Obama "Hope" poster). It was an excellent show- I was very impressed with both the quality and the quantity of the work. Janice posted some pictures on her blog. Afterwards we went next door to Anthony's Pier 4 for lunch. It's a pretty upscale place but we managed to eat without breaking the bank. I sneaked some photos while I was there. I've found that I like painting older men; their faces have so much character...

The red bike-SOLD

Oil on canvas, 6" x 6"
Sometimes I just want to paint something bright and sunny. I was attracted to this scene because of the variety of greens and bluish greens, with that red strip across the bottom and the red bike.

Saturday night-sold

Oil on canvas, 6" x 6"
This past Saturday night we went to a nice little restaurant/bar not far from home, with a couple of cute bartenders.
