Keeping your flats flat

Everyone has their own little tricks for keeping their brushes in good shape and make them last longer. Here's mine: After I finish cleaning my brushes at the end of the day (using mild detergent and sometimes baby oil), I have an old telephone book that I open midway, lay my brushes down, close it and put a weight on top (in this case, a glass brick that doubles as a holder for other brushes). It's fast and keeps the brushes nice and sharp.

Very clever, I like it; more civilized than running them across my tongue and pressing them through my lips!

Thanks for sharing! What a great idea. I wear out so many brushes.

This is a great idea! I've used telephone books to clean brushes and this just adds one more thing to use them for. I'm always looking for ideas to keep my brushes in better shape.
And, to Janice - yes it is more civilized, but I bet your brushes are just perfect! :-)

I agree, Janice's brushes probably are perfect. I bet her studio is much neater than mine too ( : And thanks, Linda, for the award! It's much appreciated.

Great advice! I am dealing with the flat brushes issue for quite a while and always ended up throwing them away after a few paintings!
