Oil on panel, 8" x 8"
This is a quick sketch for a larger piece. I loved all the bits of red that popped up here and there. If you've ever been to New York in the winter, you know that almost everyone wears black. Those who don't are wearing gray or navy blue. So, my thanks to that one renegade woman who decided to wear red.

Beautiful composition- well thought out and love the red coat! I like all the brushwork and the soft feel to this one.
That renegade woman made this painting. It's really wonderful Kathy!
Oh I really like this painting. The composition is great and the painting reads also as a very nice abstract...great color and light!
Fantastic painting!
The painting truly evokes Manhattan. I think I could look at it forever.
Beautiful painting! I love all the muted tones and soft brush strokes. The red coat really draws the eye. Very nice!
Lovely execution with very nice colours.
The RED COATS are comming and loving it Mike Dalto
The color and brushwork in this are wonderful. Love this!
Like a touch, a fantastic memory of art history -- Childe Hassam's flag painting series, or Pissarro's Montmartre series.
What a delight this one is!
This is so very fresh and the colors are beautiful.
I'm amazed at the composition. A street scene of tall buildings in a square format that works beautifully is truly impressive.
Really love this one, Kathy. Excellent composition and the bits of red make it exciting!
I am thinking the coat is cad red and it works beautifully in this painting. The action of color spots makes this paintng just sing. Love it.
Nice loose, painterly street scene. Where is it?
Thanks everyone. And Laurel, it's in New York.
I just found you. Your work is wonderful and emotional. Congrats.
I saw this on daily painters and was immediately drawn to it. Beautiful painting!

Yup - I was the one in the WHITE coat there last month (actually I counted three of us)! I am so into city scenes right now, and I love this one!
This is one of my favorites, Kathy! As everyone said, the woman in the red coat just makes this painting.
