Crackers and a sandwich

Oil on canvas, 20" x 16"
I had to fool around with this one, eliminating a lot of clutter in the background- chairs, blankets, towels, people. I decided to just keep the towel on the ground, the little cooler and the seagull in the top left. Together they make kind of a "Z" that brings your eye down and then back up.

Love it! Did you have to get in the water to get the view?

Thanks Thomas. It's actually a little stream that goes from a marsh to the ocean, so I was just on the other side.

What a great painting! I love the way you did the edge of the water in front of the children.

Ah, I wondered if that might have been the case, but I do like the idea of going to great lengths to get the composition just right!
