Fishing at Beavertail-sold

Oil on canvas on panel, 8" x 10"
I got back from Canada last Thursday, went painting with my friend Ann on Friday morning in Jamestown. It was a beautiful morning, the surf was pretty wild.

Mmmm. This is the way to paint the sea: Bold spontaneous strokes of the right color notes. I love it!

Thanks, you guys. Painting waves can be difficult, it's constantly changing, I tried to just get the feeling of the waves (have to admit I used a photo when I got home and added just a few dabs to clarify some things) but 95% was done on the spot.

I was going to comment on the great movement and brushwork on this one, but everyone beat me to it! So I second their comments...
