The shade garden- SOLD

Oil on canvas, 8" x 10"
One of the things I really like about painting outside is the way birds and other wildlife eventually decide to ignore you and just go about their business. In my backyard where I painted this, the sparrows are the exception. They were VERY unhappy that I was there, and very vocal about it. Of course, the fact that they had a nest with hungry chicks about 10 feet away from my easel just might have been the reason. TOO BAD SPARROWS! It's my yard- although I did take breaks every 20 minutes or so to go in the house and let them tend the young'uns.

Fantastic visual interest. Great variety of cools and warms, lights and darks, sizes, shapes, smooth and sharp; nice decisions about the composition too. But most of all the end product is a successful sum of it's parts - no easy task. Bravo!

YES! This is a wonderful little painting, great variety in the greens. Presents a very serene and believable scene. Love the little purple flowers.

Thank you all! Including the last, although I have no idea what it says or even what language it is. Can anyone translate?
