Girl with long hair

Oil on canvas, 10" x 8"
If you follow this blog, you know I sometimes teach a "Limited Color Portrait" painting class based on the palette of Anders Zorn- white, black, cad red, and yellow ocher. Well, now the master's work is coming to Boston. The Isabella Stewart Gardner museum will be hosting a show of his paintings Feb. 28- May 13, 2013. Here's a bit from their website:

Anders Zorn: A European Artist Seduces America will investigate how Zorn became an international artist who set the groundwork for modern art, reveal his rapidly developing style from 1890 to the early 1900s, and his variety of subjects. The exhibition will be organized in five different segments, including “Zorn and Gardner,” “Society Portraits,” “In the City,” “Country Life,” and “Artist’s Studios.” Twenty-four paintings are featured together with twenty-two drawings, photographs, letters, and gifts that Anders Zorn gave Isabella Gardner in 1894.

Snow

Oil on panel, 6" x 6"
I don't like winter, but I do absolutely love the blue of shadows on snow on a sunny day. I was determined to go out and paint some before it melted. I sat in my car on the side of the road for this one.

Brown house

Oil on canvas, 6" x 6"

Taryn Day writes the blog "The Art Room, artist interviews and discussions" where she posts lots of great paintings from lots of great painters, living and dead. She usually has a theme for the month, and this month's theme is "Artists who blog". I was flattered that she chose me as one of the artists. Check it out!
